The Death and Resurrection of the Chemical Peel

Chemical Peels tend to have a pretty nasty reputation. For a very affordable price they’re effective at reversing visible signs of aging such as deep and fine wrinkles, removing dull

layers of skin and restoring the skin’s healthy glow--But at what cost?

People tend to think of a post-chemical peel in terms of a bad horror movie. During recovery, the skin is red, sensitive, and suffers from swelling and unevenness. Luckily, this version of the chemical peel is a thing of the past! New technology has developed a chemical peel that offers outstanding results with much less recovery time. You can finally have your cake and eat it too!

Why Did We Start Offering Chemical Peels?

Initially, Sylvana didn’t even offer chemical peels. But with laser technology advancing, we turned our focus to laser treatments. Lasers offer a very controlled and precise depth and healing time is more predictable. We knew our patients had busy schedules, careers, and packed social calendars and didn’t want to subject anyone to such a long recovery period. However, a new product came onto the market and immediately changed our point of view on the chemical peel. . .

Glytone by EnerPeel was developed using innovative technology and is the gold standard for chemical peels in Europe. Unlike old-style chemical peels, Glytone by EnerPeel works from the inside out. This new technology targets the skin at a deeper level where the damage actually is, instead of the top layer, resulting in an even treatment, youthful results and reduced downtime due to less surface damage.

As a Med Spa that is always searching for cutting edge products and state-of-the-art technology, we were one of the first Med Spas in the country to bring this amazing treatment to the United States. The Chemical Peel has been resurrected.

Can I Get A Chemical Peel With My Skin Type?

Whether your skin is sensitive, acne-prone, or shows signs pre-mature aging, there is a chemical peel especially for you. In fact, many patients opt to have these peels during their facials as a chemical exfoliant, replacing our mechanical exfoliation.

How Will I Look?

You’ll have people asking you if you just got back from vacation when they notice your healthy, youthful glow. You should see a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles and pore size, and reversal of sun damage and redness. There are a variety of Enerpeels, each specifically targeting each of these concerns. Many patients opt to have a series of three in order to achieve the best results.

What Are The Side Effects?

Depending on the type of peel you get, you may experience flushing and flaking similar to a sunburn, but these side effects usually resolve themselves between 3 and 7 days. It is important to wear sunscreen every day, but especially following a chemical peel. Make sure to stay out of the sun and apply SPF daily to 2 weeks following your peel.
