Pearl is a new laser procedure for treating sun damage, uneven texture, brown spots, and fine lines with minimum downtime and risk. It’s ideal for patients of almost any age searching for a safe and uncomplicated way to restore the skin's youthful look and texture with just one or two treatments.
A Pearl treatment gently delivers pulses of light to the epidermis. The laser simultaneously sends heat to the deeper layers of skin to stimulate longer-term collagen growth. A natural protective layer then forms on the skin. The treated skin will look and feel slightly sunburned, but on the fifth day, the protective layer will peel away, leaving new, healthy, vibrant skin with a "pearl-like" glow.
A Sylvana professional guides the Pearl laser over the skin, gently removing the top layer of the epidermis and heating a layer of tissue below it. The treatment last 10 to 15 minutes for a full face, and it feels like a series of brief pinches.
Your skin will look like it’s sunburned. We’ll apply ointment to your skin to keep it moist, and it will need to be kept moist for three to four days. Since you cannot wear sunscreen during this time, you will need to wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure for a few days following the treatment. You can start wearing make-up on day three. After three to four days, the top layer of skin peels off, revealing new, healthy, vibrant skin.
You can resume normal activities right after the procedure. However, you may not want to attend important social events because your face will appear pink/red for three to four days.
Patients of any age with sun damage, uneven skin texture and wrinkles can benefit from Pearl.
Pearl will smooth skin texture and soften fine lines and wrinkles on the face, neck, upper chest and hands.
Pearl combines an effective treatment of fine lines and wrinkles, sun damaged skin and uneven texture, with very little recovery time. It also typically requires fewer treatments than Fraxel. However, at Sylvana we frequently combine Fraxel and Pearl to offer outstanding results, but with fewer treatments than if either procedure were used alone.
Yes, Cutera, the manufacturer of the Pearl laser, received FDA clearance in March, 2007 for skin resurfacing and the treatment of wrinkles.
