Juvederm,® Sylvana’s choice for thin and aging lips. Juvederm features a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results and a smooth, natural look and feel. Sylvana’s philosophy is to enhance a patient’s natural lip line for a look that is fuller, but not artificial. We sometimes use Juvederm together with BOTOX; the BOTOX relaxes the muscles and then the Juvederm is used to fill in the creases.
Juvederm is the only hyaluronic acid filler that is FDA approved to last up to a year. It’s also the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler that has demonstrated its safety and effectiveness in persons of color.

What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance found in all mammals that helps to hydrate and add volume to your skin. In addition to its use as an aesthetic treatment, hyaluronic acid has been used for more than 20 years for injecting into arthritic joints to aid movement as well as for eye surgeries and wound repair.
What is cross-linked hyaluronic acid?
“Uncross-linked” hyaluronic acid in its natural form is in a liquid state. Cross-linking is the process through which hyaluronic acid is made into a gel product that can be injected into the skin for long-lasting results.
How does Juvederm work?
Using a fine needle, we ease Juvederm into the skin to help smooth moderate to severe facials wrinkles and folds. The injection process only takes about 15 minutes.
Are there any side-effects?
The most common side effects include temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching and discoloration. Most side effects are mild or moderate, and last no longer than a week.
Is Juvederm permanent?
No, the correction lasts for up to a year but is not permanent.
